Writer, vocalist, DJ & producer
Malik Cooper has always loved music and credits his favorite artists as major influences in his life. He started writing in 6th grade and as a DJ in high school and his passion for music and eclectic taste for different genres earned him gigs as a DJ for events all over the country.
Malik Cooper, a Berkeley native, graduated from Cal Berkeley and became an entrepreneur after his time in reality television led him to public speaking and youth education. He later joined the Nation Hip Hop Political Convention, contributing both locally and nationally. Cooper focused on his design and printing business while teaching youth in Oakland. During the pandemic, he paused his free teaching efforts and began producing events with IMPOP, a nonprofit that helps youth develop life and tech skills. Cooper also conceptualized The Re-Education Music Project Vol. 1, an album with his group, The Suitors, where artists personify historic Black figures to introduce alternative learning methods in schools.
